HOW DO YOU SHIP LIVE ISOPODS?
All orders are shipped in insulated styrofoam-lined boxes with seasonal heat or cold packs. We pack with damp sphagnum moss, substrate, and leaf litter to keep your animals comfortable during transit. We ship Monday through Wednesday only via FedEx 2-Day or FedEx Overnight.
DO YOU GUARANTEE LIVE ARRIVAL?
Yes. We offer a 100% live arrival guarantee on all FedEx shipments. If there is a DOA, contact us within 1 hour of the delivery timestamp with photo or video proof and we will issue a replacement or store credit.
WHAT TEMPERATURES DO YOU SHIP IN?
Our live arrival guarantee is valid when temperatures at both origin and destination are between 45°F and 85°F. For extreme temperatures we recommend selecting FedEx Hold at Location so you can pick up at your nearest FedEx hub.
DO YOU SHIP TO ALL 50 STATES?
We ship to the continental United States only. We do not currently ship to Alaska, Hawaii, or internationally.
WHAT IS AN OVERCOUNT?
Every order includes extra animals beyond what you purchased to cover any potential losses during shipping. For example a 10ct order may include 12-13 animals.
DO YOU INCLUDE SPRINGTAILS?
Yes, every retail customer receives complementary springtails in their isopod order inside.
WHAT DO ISOPODS EAT?
Isopods are detritivores meaning they eat decaying organic matter. Their primary diet is leaf litter and decaying wood. We recommend supplementing with vegetables, protein sources like freeze dried shrimp or fish flakes, and a calcium source like cuttlebone.
HOW DO I SET UP AN ISOPOD ENCLOSURE?
A plastic shoebox tub with ventilation holes works great for a starter culture. Add 1 to 3 inches of organic substrate, a thick layer of leaf litter, cork bark hides, sphagnum moss, and a calcium source. Keep one side moist and one side drier to create a humidity gradient.
CAN I COMBINE DIFFERENT SPECIES IN ONE ORDER?
Yes. You can order multiple species and they will ship in the same box but in separate containers to prevent mixing.
HOW LONG DOES SHIPPING TAKE?
FedEx 2-Day arrives in 2 business days. FedEx Overnight arrives the next business day. Orders placed Monday through Wednesday ship the same week. Orders placed Thursday through Sunday ship the following Monday.
